Young Talent Group introduces young guest editors for UEG Journal

The Young Talent Group (YTG) specifically represents promising junior gastroenterology clinicians and basic scientists within the UEG. The group consists of eight members and is positioned under the roof of the National Societies Committee. Since its inauguration in 2013 YTG has already left a positive mark within the UEG by promoting the cause of young gastroenterologists, helping them develop their career and create a forum for collaboration and friendship. The support of young clinicians and scientists is a top priority within the UEG and YTG had an active role in the UEG Week 2014 in Vienna, with a dedicated program (‘Young GI network’: www.ueg.eu/week/programme/ young-gi-network/), a lounge, a networking event (www.ueg.eu/week/past-future/ueg-week-2014/ueg-weekgallery-young-gi-network-lets-meet/) and a mentoring program for our members – all of which were great successes. The UEG offers multiple formats to distinguish excellence among upcoming leaders in the field of gastroenterology, such as the Rising Stars Program or the National Scholar Awards. In addition, the Summer School, Basic Science Course and the Young Investigator Meeting strengthen the new generation in gastroenterology. We are proud to announce a new format of YTG in collaboration with the UEG Journal. Starting in the

second half of 2015, young talents will act as guest editors for the UEG Journal. The plan is to include 4–5 reviews, commentaries or perspectives on a defined and current topic in a separate issue. This is specifically meant to not only encourage excellent junior investigators to write about their area of expertise and educate the science audience, but also to gain visibility. The series starts off with Florian Rieder editing an issue on intestinal fibrogenesis followed by Rui Castro focusing on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Special thanks to Jan Tack, Julia Kasper and the UEG for supporting this new format. We wish this will become an established and regular part of the UEG Journal. Please send us your feedback with ideas or comments on our initiatives. We want to continuously improve our activities.
