VESICAL CALCULUS. By OCKIIOY COOMAE

DEY, Sub-Assistant-Suegeon, Sealkote. Cases of urinary calculus are very common among tlie inliabitants of the district of Sealkote and of the hill villages in Cashmere, and present themselves in large numbers here for surgical aid, so much so that I have operated on twenty-four cases during the last ten months, and am glad to state that they were attended

with successful results. It is not much to be wondered at, as the patients labouring under the symptoms of this severely painful disorder subsist on inferior grain not properly ground, and drink water of the mineral springs, loaded with calcareous particles. As space would forbid my entering into a detailed account of each case, I subjoin the following tabular abstract, shewing the number of cases operated upon by me at the SealI kote Charitable Dispensary during the last ten months. have the gratification to remark that the great salubrity of tho climate of this station tends to the rapid healing of wounds, and recovery of the poor victims of the frightful distemper, without the development of untoward symptoms in the majority of tho

cases.* Sealkote, 22nd June, 1866.

* We cannot afford space for the Baboo's Table, suffice it to say that it shows 21 consecutive cases of Lithotomy, without a single death,?Ed., I. If. &?
