UEG Support Policies: LINK Award Programme 2012

At UEG, the European professional organisation for advancing gastroenterological care, our mission is to broaden and deepen knowledge in this vital area, and continually improve standards of knowledge and treatment. A critical part of this work is helping to fund innovative training and educational programmes, as well as international scientific and professional cooperation. One of these Support Policies is the National Societies LINK Award Programme 2012: With this programme UEG aims to promote closer links with and between National Societies of Gastroenterology in Europe and to support them in their scientific and professional activities. The LINK Award Programme wants to encourage the development of cross-border scientific & professional co-operations that have not yet been organised within the UEG community and strengthen relationships, knowledge and skills transfer between individual National Societies and with the UEG. In 2012 these projects were selected by the UEG National Societies Committee for funding through the UEG National Societies LINK Award Programme.

networks (CTNs) are required to do this. The European Network for Paediatric Research-European Medicines Agency (ENPR-EMA) identified the absence of a European CTN in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition (GHN). This project will start to address this absence.

Development of a European Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Clinical Trials Network

HaPanEU will address the following two issues: Harmonizing MTG-BT and s-MRCP by calling for a consensus with experts (benchmarking) and discussion with pancreatologists from all over Europe. Secondly, aiming to agree how to treat patients with PEI in a standardized fashion according to recent guidelines. The outcome of HaPanEU will consist of a protocol detailing the technical and functional aspects (minimal requirements) of s-MRCP as well as the MTG-BT and therapeutic recommendations. Progress reports of the projects and updates on cooperations of the project partners and UEG will be featured regularly on the UEG Website and in UEG newsletters.
