I have been induced to publish the three following cases of typhoid fever, from having read an article, which appeared in the 7th and 14th January numbers of the Lancet, entitled " On

Typhoid or Enteric Holleston:?

involuntarily in bed. Still wanders during the night. Linseed 12th July.?Pain in right iliac fossa more severe. meal poultices were constantly applied. His motions are consistent, but clay-coloured. 14th.?Motions have regained their colour, but they have again become thin. He passes large quantities of urine. Pain has completely disappeared from the iliac region; and he is no longer delirious at night. Fur on the tongue is becoming yellowish. \1tli.?Abdomen swollen; he was delirious during the night. 19th.?Bed-sore forming over sacrum. 20th.?A crop of sudamina was observed this morning on inner surface of both thighs and lower half of abdomen. 23rd.?Tongue clean, dry and glistening. Appetite not easily satisfied. Motions are quite healthy. His food up to the 12th consisted entirely of milk, after which he had soup, sago, rice, ghee, &c. Case No. I.?Rutton Kahar, aged 25 years,

was admitted into the 21st June last. He attended the court on the and 28th June, remaining there from 10 o'clock a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. On 1st July, when still in Hawalat, he complained of diarrhoea, and was seen by the native doctor, who gave him some astringent pills. When making the usual visit to Hawalat on 2nd July, I found him suffering from fever>

ordered him to hospital. His pulse was quick, and tongue covered with a white fur, except the tip, which was red. He said he had been feeling

unwell and " sust" for the diarrhoea. There

days previous to the appearance of gurgling in the right iliac fossa, and to a less extent in descending colon he passed live to six pea-soupy motions in the twenty-four hours: the abdomen was not distended, and he did not complain of pain, when deep pressure was made in the right iliac region.
