2014 was truly an exciting year with nothing more rewarding than the newly formed alliance between Wiley Publishing, The Journal of Clinical Hypertension (JCH), and the World Hypertension League (WHL). Together, our efforts have established a platform for developing, collecting, disseminating, and evolving the best evidence base for the prevention and control of hypertension globally. We are proud to reaffirm that JCH is now the home journal of WHL with “Free Access” to all. Please sign up by following the instructions on the WHL Web site found at http://www.whleague.org/index.php/ j-stuff/the-journal-of-clinical-hypertension. An underlying component to this effort has been Partnerships. The WHL council members are essential to our mandate and are essential to maintain a global reach at the population level. In addition, 2014 support from multiple organizations has been critical and these organizations include but are not limited to the World Health Organization, International Society of Hypertension, Pan American Health Organization, World Heart Federation, International Diabetes Federation, International Society of Nephrology, World Stroke Organization, International Council of Cardiovascular

Prevention and Rehabilitation, World Action on Salt and Health, Pan African Society of Hypertension, UK Health Forum, the UK Faculty of Public Health, Canadian Stroke Network, British Hypertension Society, American Heart Association, World Stroke Organization, and multiple universities (Figure). Among the WHL publications and presentations have been a series of publications, presentations, and learning modules that are being made available through our new resource center http://www.whleague.org/index.php/ j-stuff/resource-center. With the intent to maximize our impact with the strongest evidence base, the WHL continues to develop and release resources as outlined in the Table. Our hope is to build and promote more resources in 2015 through JCH, our new Website (www.whleague. org), congresses, a WHL quarterly newsletter, and other communications. The WHL is committed to knowledge translation and sharing of success stories as the foundation of our mission. We will continue to have annual reports and news releases from members and partners as part of a team-based “Lessons Learned” effort.

The WHL launched our inaugural Excellence and Notable Achievement Awards in 2014 that we hope to expand in 2015. Nominations are due to the Awards Committee by February 15, 2015. http://onlinelibrary. wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jch.12445/abstract. Several of the 2014 awardees were highly involved in World Hypertension Day (WHD) 2014. The WHL was quite impressed that we were able to get more than 300,000 BP screenings for WHD 2014. For 2015, the theme will remain “Know Your Numbers,” but with a new goal of 1 million BP screenings globally! Please start your planning and efforts on how to contribute and mark your calendar for the week leading up to WHD on May 17, 2015. As we build our movement, the WHL has also added novel components to aid in gaining traction and reaching more populations. These include the launch of a WHL China regional office, a new Website and Website committee, the first Chief Executive Officer, the first Treasurer, the first Population Health & Economics Specialist, incorporation in the United States, eight new members, updated bylaws, and three new board members.

With these 2014 successes in hand, we are optimistic on maximizing our impact in 2015. Without spoiling any surprises, WHL has its sights set on a truly memorable 2015 to include: adding more members, working with members to develop regional hypertension fact sheets based on the Global Burden of Disease Study, expanding a dietary salt expert committee and call to action, embracing corporate members and support, developing the first WHL strategic plan, updating the global hypertension agenda, incorporating lifestyle interventions and policies, broadening our newsletter audience and reach, building upon the Wiley–JCH alliance, and so much more. Together, our members, partners, volunteers, and supporting organizations will truly make a difference worldwide. Thank you!!
