The unusual journey of a tooth. Found but not lost?

In January 2015, a 59-year-old German female (60 kg, 170 cm) was admitted to the Medical School of Hannover with fever, cough and progressive confusion. The patient lived in a nursing home because of a complex patient history of a skull fracture with intracerebral haemorrhage and development of a hydrocephalus malresorptivus (2009). The patient was fully oriented without any neurological impairment, but with intellectual deficits. According to the nursing staff, the patient developed a progressive confusion and agitation during the last days prior to admission. The physical examination revealed the following baseline parameters: body temperature 38.2°C; breath rate 18/min; blood pressure 110/70 mmHg; heart rate 90 bpm.
