THE INDIAN MEDICAL SERVICE. We extract, the following from the Medical Times and Gazette, dated 13th July:? " The Indian Government propose certain important changes in the medical administration of India. As at present constituted, there is a double medical staff for the army, one for the British Army, and one for the Native Army, each complete in itself: whilst the Indian medical staff owes a divided allegiance to the civil Government. It is now determined, if possible, to substitute for this system a single military medical staff, and a single civil medical staff, with undivided

responsibility."

It is strange that while these matters are the subject of newspaper discussion at home, they are kept a profound secret in India?so much so that we believe thac not a of that large body of medical officers, whose member single interests will be so vitally affected by any measure of the kind, has the slightest idea of what changes, if any, are about to

public

occur.
