The best is yet to come: 2015 and beyond Dan Vaughn Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, MI, USA As I begin my third year at the helm of JMMT, there are some exciting things happening at the journal. I am certain that you will agree that these changes are great news for our readers, authors, and members of the manual therapy community. Before I share those changes, let me extend my thanks to so many who have made these past two years a very rewarding and meaningful experience for me. I have had the great pleasure of meeting many of our readers, authors, and reviewers whose paths I had not had the pleasure of crossing in my career, until I embarked upon this journey as Editor-in-Chief of JMMT. I regard each of the new acquaintances and working relationships that have been established as having contributed something positive and enriching to my personal and professional journeys. The number of people I have to thank are more than I can begin to list for fear of missing someone. However, they include many members of our Editorial Board, as well as our authors, reviewers, and readers; many of who come up to me at conferences and comment on how much they appreciate the journal and my service to the profession in this capacity. Thank you for that encouragement and for the countless ways many of you have worked with me to enhance the journal and its content. As we begin the New Year, I’d like to announce our JMMT Outstanding Article for 2014. Accuracy of physical therapists’ prognosis of low back pain from the clinical examination: a prospective cohort study, by Dr. J. Haxby Abbott and Emma-Marie Kingan, received this honor in a vote by members of our Editorial Board. On behalf of the entire Board, I’d like to extend special congratulations to these authors. Looking ahead, I am very pleased to announce two important changes at JMMT. First, consequent to the upswing in the number of manuscripts submitted to the journal in the past few years, we are adding a fifth issue in 2015. This will allow our readers more access to the articles that you are interested in and in a more opportune fashion. For our authors, it will mean more timely publication of your work, once accepted. These are positive developments for the journal moving forward. I anticipate that we will

continue to bring our readers a special issue with each calendar year. I am pleased to also announce that Drs. Josh Cleland and Louie Puentedura will guest edit our special issue for 2015. We will announce the topic as the year progresses and we approach publication of our special issue. I am confident that it will be an important complement to your journal collection. I am even more pleased to announce the addition of a new co-editor-in-chief of the journal, Dr. JeanMichel Brisme´e. Dr. Brisme´e, PT, ScD, is professor in the Doctor of Science Program in Physical Therapy at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium with Bachelor of Science degrees in Physical Education and Physical Therapy in 1985. In 1996, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master of Sciences in Sports Health and earned a Doctor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 2003. Dr. Brisme´e has instructed over 100 courses and conferences nationally and internationally in advanced Orthopedic Medicine and Manual Therapy of the spine and extremities and authored over 60 scientific papers in refereed journals. He has been the Chair of the Research Committee for the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists for six years. Dr. Brisme´e brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the journal that will certainly keep JMMT moving forward in our quest to make it the best journal possible for our readers. JMMT has served the manual therapy community for over 20 years. This marks the first time that the journal will have utilized a co-editor model. I believe that this will bring about more growth, an expanse of new ideas, and an even more efficient turnaround in manuscript reviews. It’s a model that will serve the journal, its readers and the community of manual therapists in a positive fashion. I hope that you will join me in welcoming Dr. Brisme´e to his new role with the journal. Together, we look forward to working with you in making JMMT an even better resource for our consumers.
