SUSPENSION HANDLE FOR LARYNGOSCOPES ALBERT

H.

ANDREWS, JR.,

MD

CHICAGO, ILLIl':OIS

We have found that the Killian gallows is superior to chest supports for holding laryngoscopes during microsurgery and carbon dioxide lasing.':" In order to avoid the trouble and expense of modifying laryngoscopes for the conventional screw-in handle, we developed this slip-on handle (V. Mueller Co.) which fits over the horizontal portion of the Jackson type adult laryngoscope (Fig. 1) . It may be slipped straight on, or if there is insufficient space as may occur with emphysematous patients, it may be put on from the side and rotated into position so the notches may engage the crossbar of the Killian gallows.
