Letters Gazette has the market in farm animal analgesic products. Our overall aims are to update existing understanding and to evaluate changes over this period. The survey is currently being distributed to a large, randomly selected sample of veterinary surgeons dealing with cattle. We would be very grateful if recipients could take the time to complete and return the questionnaire. No personal details will be collected, so all analysis will be anonymous. Any practising cattle clinicians who would like to participate but have not received a paper questionnaire are invited to contact us for a copy. Survey on the recognition and management of pain in cattle WE are currently conducting a survey to investigate attitudes towards pain recognition and management in cattle, following up on a study by researchers at the University of Bristol in 2004 (Huxley and Whay 2006). Anecdotal evidence suggests that attitudes among both farm animal clinicians and their clients have changed substantially since the original project, as
