Editorial We are honored to assume the role of Editor of Chief (Dr. Vijay Khatri) and co-Editor (Dr. Nicholas J. Petrelli) for the Journal Surgical Oncology. We would first like to thank Dr. Riccardo Audisio for his years of service as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal. Our gratitude also extends to the Editorial board members, many of whom have dedicated several years of service to the journal. In this editorial we wish to convey some of our exciting plans for Surgical Oncology and the strategic direction that we believe will ensure robust future growth. We have also restructured the editorial board and look forward to working with our high quality colleagues in stewarding the journal to a new stature. We plan on expanding the content of Surgical Oncology to include multimedia case reports and “state-of-the-art” in oncology series which would be a selection of review articles focusing on state-of-the-science and new areas of development in surgical oncology. A new section of clinical trials will invite investigators from Cancer Cooperative groups in United States, Europe, and Asia to provide a concise summary of current ongoing clinical trials and practice-changing trials that leading oncologists will describe as a result of recently completed patient accrual. This section will be particularly helpful in disseminating critical evidence-based information to community surgical oncologists that ultimately benefits the patients we serve. Lastly, we also plan for our readers in the future to have access to

videos which illustrate surgical techniques such as complex multi-visceral resections and those that incorporate minimally invasive approaches. Together with a revised editorial board and these new concepts, we feel that Surgical Oncology will continue to evolve as the first choice for many of our colleagues taking care of cancer patients in the community and in academic centers. Finally, to our readers we acknowledge that Surgical Oncology is your journal and should reflect your needs and interests. We therefore welcome your constructive comments, ideas for improvement, possible topics for future issues and particularly how we can integrate emerging informational technology and social media to enhance the journals experience.
