SUPERNUMERARY
TEETH AND DENTIGEROUS
CYST

upernumerary teeth are not uncommon. Yet very rarely one sees both a supernumerary impacted tooth and a dentigerous cyst in the same specimen. A 27-year-old man presented himself for examination following pain in the premolar area of the right mandibular jaw (Alexandria University Hospital, Egypt). On clinical examination, a supernumerary premolar crown was observed in the oral cavity. On radiographic examination, another supernumerary premolar was seen to be impacted and to have a dentigerous cyst. The diagnosis of a cyst was verified after microscopic examination of the cyst wall. It revealed the wall to be composed of fibrous connective tissue, large fine collagen fibers arranged parallel to the periphery, and the inner surface lined with epithelium. Radiographic examination of the contralateral side showed it to be normal. The

25year-old white man presented himself to the Oral Surgery Department at Boston City Hospital with intermittent pain in all four quadrants. Clinically, a diagnosis of multiple decayed teeth and generalized periodontal
