Dear Sir,?a reference to the Indian Medical Gazette for November 1876 will show you that I then recommended, in a letter to the Editor, that the internal administration of sulphurous acid should be tried in the next outbreak of cholera, as some cases of cholera in the stage of collapse, which had occurred in the 20th P. N. I. at Peshavvur during the cholera epidemic of 1876, had made extraordinary recoveries under the use of this medicine, i. e, the proportion of recoveries was

unusually large.

The cases of cholera in the 20th P. N. I. above mentioned were under my treatment, and it occurred to rue that the solution of sulphurous acid would be, when given internally, much more efficacious than by any other method of administration. The Civil Surgeon of Murree has, at my suggestion, tried the solution of sulphurous acid in the treatment of cholera cases during the late outbreak of that disease at this station with, he tells me, quite marvellous success. I hope, with his kind assistance, to give some statistics of the results thus obtained ere long. I write this letter in the hope that its publication will, in the mean time, induce such medical officers to try this remedy, in the manner recommended, as have not already done so, with a view to a more extended trial of its merits.
