on record Tiib following case in further confirmation of the accuracy of Dr. Bonavia's remarks, Indian Medical Gazette, p. 252. 1st Vol. of the in the published A Kachee, named Bikha, partook of some suttoo given him by a Thakoor. Shortly after his taking this food, violent vomiting and purging set in, and he died in a few hours. A post-mortem examination was made on the 23rd January: the body was not decomposed in the least, though this was the 6th day after death. Deceased was apparently a healthy man, about 22 years of age. The eyes were sunken in their sockets; no marks of violence were visible on the surface of the body; the brain was not examined ; the lungs were natural, both sides of the heart contained dark fluid blood ; the cavities of the heart were not unnaturally dilated ; the walls and valves were natural; numerous patches,, which may rightly be designated subendocardial ecchyinoses, were found on the floor of the left ventricle, as well as about aad on the column? carnese ; the inner surfaces of the right ventricle and of both auricles were quite natural. The stomach was dilated, and contained a large quantity of a reddish fluid, abundantly mixed with mucus; the whole surface of mucous membrane of the stomach was deeply congested ; hero and there bloody points were seen; several yellowish granules were scattered over the stomach. The whole track of intestinal canal was highly congested; no feces in intestines, only a largo quantity of glairy mucus; liver and Examiner to Government for spleen natural. The Chemical (Judh reported that he " found a considerable quantity of arsenic in the stomach and its contents.'' Wince Dr. Bonavia called attention to this appearance, as being pathognomonic of arsenical poisoning, several cases of it have been recorded in the Indian Medical Gazette; three by Dr. Bonavia ^Vol. I., p. 252), a fourth by Dr. McLeod of Jessore (Vol. I., p. 302), a fifth bv Dr. W. P. Harris of Shahj ah an poor (Vol. II., p. 120), and the sixth (Vol. II., p. 75) and seventh (the present one) by me.
