The Institute has started a study of doctors’ career choices in hospital medicine and general practice and in other areas of medicine inside and outside the Government service. The study is sponsored by the Health Departments and has been approved by the British Medical Association. An important part of the study is a postal survey of 7500 doctors chosen to represent the views and experiences of doctors of all kinds all over Great Britain.

Anglo-Soviet Joint Committee on Health Cooperation A Soviet delegation has been in London to review with officials from the Department of Health the agreement which was set up in 1975 to cover reciprocal health care and collaboration in research, which is now taking place on eye diseases, influenza, and everyday care. A protocol setting out plans for future work has been signed. An international symposium on genetic engineering will be held in Milan on March 29-31.
