Surgeon,

RAYE, M.D. College Hospital. of 1888 my friend Dr.

Medical

the early part of Indore, wrote to me, forwarding portious of two growths which lie suspected to be examples of Rhinoscleroma, and asking me to have a miscroscopical examination made, if possible, by a skilled pathologist. The cases referred to were recently published by Dr. Keegan in the Indian Medical Gazette. Shortly after the receipt of his letter, a case was admitted to my wards, such as I had never before seen, but bearing in mind Dr. Keegan's cases, I was led to believe that an example of Rhiuoscleroma had come before me, and I ventured to give this name to the growth in question. Subsequent microscopical examination showed that the characteristics were those of Rhinoscleroma. The patient was shown to the Members of the Calcutta Medical Society, and notes of tho case reported by my House-Surgeon Dr. Biliari Lai Chuckerbutty, will be found amongst the proceedings of the Society reported in the current number of this journal. Portions of Dr. Keegan's and of my specimens were, I believe, sent home to Dr. Payne, the first English publisher of a case of Rhinoscleroma, but as yet he has not reported 011 them. 16th April, 1889.
