KOREAN COLLEGE OF RHEUMATOLOGY MEETING IN SEOUL The 34th Korean College of Rheumatology (KCR) Annual Scientific Meeting and the 8th International symposium was held in Seoul on May 16–17, 2014. This conference was an important forum for exchange in scientific ideas and knowledge among participants through oral and poster presentations, interactive workshops and expert instruction. This KCR meeting was attended by about 550 rheumatologists, researchers and health professionals. The scientific program included 116 oral and poster presentation sessions, an international symposium, invited lectures and award lectures. The international symposium covered some rheumatoid arthritisrelated topics, such as novel targets or cardiovascular disease, and other sessions covered research using data from the registry of Korean patients with rheumatic diseases. In addition, new members of the KCR committee were elected and will serve a term of 2 years.

MALAYSIA RHEUMATOLOGY MEETING IN AUGUST Malaysia Society of Rheumatology is celebrating its silver jubilee this year. In conjunction with this, the 15th Rheumatology Workshop organized by the Malaysian Society of Rheumatology and Singapore Society of Rheumatology will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 22–24 August 2014 with the theme of Rheumatology Across Ages.

UPDATE OF CLINICAL PRACTICE GUIDELINE ON MANAGEMENT OF OSTEOARTHRITIS IN MALAYSIA The Ministry of Health, Malaysia and the Malaysian Society of Rheumatology (MSR) recently took an initiative to produce an updated edition of the Management of Osteoarthritis Clinical Practice Guideline. On the 28th May 2014, Deputy Director General of Health Malaysia, launched the guidelines at Selayang Hospital, one of the main centers for rheumatology in Malaysia. An overview of the guidelines was presented by the chairperson of the Clinical Practice Guideline Development Group, followed by the delivery of the guideline packages to representatives from all the 14 State Health Offices and Faculties of Medicine of local universities. This clinical practice guideline was spearheaded by senior rheumatologists with involvement of orthopedic surgeons, family medicine specialists, rehabilitation medicine specialists, pharmacists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. (GARN)-BRIC and Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, was held on 5–7 June 2014 in Moscow, Russia, with the theme of ‘The achievements of fundamental science and personalized medicine in the management of systemic and autoinflammation’. The meeting was attended by over 300 participants, including rheumatologists, immunologists, senior and young scientists of various disciplines from 16 Asian and European countries, Central Asian and Arab countries’ APLAR member organizations and attracted many research-driven investigators and enthusiastic faculty members of various Russian universities throughout the Russian Federation from the eastern city of Vladivostok to the western city of St. Peters-

There were three plenary meetings, eight scientific sessions, five Satellite Symposia, one ‘Meet the Expert’ session and 17 Young Investigators poster presentations that facilitated intensive discussions and scientific collaborations on basic and clinical research in arthritis and related disciplines, and brought arthritis research to the cutting edge of science.
