We congratulate Erdurmus et al.1 for their study entitled ‘‘Retinal and Choroidal Thickness in Children with Familial Mediterranean Fever.’’ The authors found that retinal and choroidal thickness did not differ significantly between familial Mediterrenean fever (FMF) patients and healthy controls. In the discussion part of the article the authors stated that 5 of 30 patients had an acute attack during the recordings. Familial Mediterrenean fever is characterized by recurrent acute attacks and polyserositis. During the acute attacks an increase in the choroidal thickness may be supposed. We ask the authors to compare the choroidal and retinal thicknesses between the 5 patients having an acute attack and the remaining 25 patients. Despite the small numbers, a big difference between the groups may tell us about

subclinical choroidal vascular involvement in the acute attacks.

DECLARATION OF INTEREST The authors report no conflicts of interest. The authors alone are responsible for the content and writing of the paper.
