Recovery after Myocardial Infarction Effects of a Caring Rehabilitation Programme Bengt Fridlund, Benkt Hogstedt, Evy Lidell and Par A Larsson

ABSTRACT. The aim of the study was to evaluate a multifactorial rehabilitation programme based on interdisciplinary caring efforts for myocardial infarction (MI) patients. Randomly chosen MI-patients participated, either in a six-month rehabilitation programme (intervention group=53) or in routine cardiac followups (control group=63). Subjective and objective instruments were used for measuring their health recovery. Biophysical improvements were showed as an increased physical capacity @0.001, chi-square test, to Submaximal exercise test for the intervention the intervention patients’ advantage. These patients five weeks after MI (Mean Watt differences could not be supported when 119.2, SD 43.6) had changed significantly six analysed with the ANOVA test. The rate of months after MI (Mean Watt 151.1, SD 52.4); return to full- or part-time work were for pCO.001, paired t-test. Six months after MI, the intervention patients 65% and 80% and the intervention patients differed significantly for the control patients 56% and 63% six and from the control patients (Mean Watt 117.3, twelve months after MI. Self-reported changes SD 35.3); pCO.001, t-test for independent of life situation showed significant differences groups and multiple regression analysis. between the intervention and control paHealth in terms of subjective capacity.
