Each hemoglobin w i l l be designated by a common name and a s c i e n t i f i c d e s i g n a t i o n .
B.
I n g e n e r a l , t h e common name w i l l be t h e one s e l e c t e d by t h e a u t h o r who d i s c o v e r e d t h e v a r i a n t .
C.
The s c i e n t i f i c d e s i g n a t i o n w i l l i n d i c a t e t h e s t r u c t u r a l a b n o r m a l i t y and w i l l d i f f e r e n t i a t e between p r o d u c t s o f n o n a l l e l i c genes, when a p p r o p r i a t e .
