Private equity firm invests in Willows Referral Service SOLIHULL-BASED Willows Referral Service has announced that it has recently attracted investment from the private equity investor Sovereign Capital. It has also appointed Lynne Hill as its chief executive officer. The founders of the practice, Malcolm McKee and Peter Renwick, will remain with the business as directors. Announcing the deal on September 22, Willows said that the new funding would help it to enhance its position and stay at the forefront of specialist veterinary services. Sovereign Capital describes itself as ‘the UK’s buy and build specialist’, investing in

UK-based companies in the support services, education and training and healthcare services sectors. It says it partners with the companies it invests in to help them grow, both organically and through acquisitions. Mrs Hill, a former president of the RCVS and the BSAVA, has been chief executive of Langford Veterinary Services at the University of Bristol for the past five years. Previously, she was head of clinical services at the Royal Veterinary College. She said that she was looking forward to joining Willows and to ‘carrying it forward, while upholding its ethos of a commitment to

excellence and continued improvement’. Mr McKee added that he believed Mrs Hill would uphold the principles of the practice: ‘Lynne’s central concerns are for providing excellent patient and client care, as well as providing the highest levels of service to referring veterinary surgeons – these values are completely in line with what Peter and I have striven to put into practice over the last two decades. We are both really looking forward to working with Lynne and seeing Willows go from strength to strength.’ doi: 10.1136/vr.g5778
