Figure 1. Preoperative diagnostic imaging. (a) Transthoracic echocardiogram identified a lobulated intraatrial mass measuring 5 6 cm attached to the lateral aspect of the left atrium. The right atrium was not easily visualized. (b) Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging was useful in identifying the extension of the tumor into both atria and the relationship of the tumor with other structures of the mediastinum. (c) Positron-emission tomography-computed tomography showing strong and isolated uptake of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose into the intracardiac tumor. (d) Computed tomography scan demonstrating the intraatrial mass involving both atria. Computed tomography of the abdomen, pelvis, and adrenal glands did not show any abnormalities. Bone marrow biopsy showed no evidence of medullary extension.

A 70-year-old patient presented with atrial fibrillation. A transthoracic echocardiogram demonstrated a left atrial mass attached to the lateral aspect of the atrial wall. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tumor protruding into the left atrium, and partial obstruction of the right atrium. A multislice computed tomography scan and positron-emission tomography showed strong uptake into both atria (Figure 1). Surgical biopsy revealed a B-cell cardiac lymphoma.
