LETTER

Open Access Publication, Journal Policy, and Scientific Community To the Editor:

to select regarding open access, and 3) publication of many articles in various nonrelating fields in each issue. It should be the role and responsibility of the publisher to set the standard to control the quality of the open access publication society. International collaboration should be started.

The topic of open issues and open access publication is very interesting.1,2 In the present day, several new open access journals are available, and it becomes the topic for discussion among medical editors and publishers. The quality and impact of the open access journal are usually questioned. Björk and Solomon noted that both open access and subscription journals had the same scientific impact and quality.3 Nevertheless, the problem of “predator online publisher” is the new emerging ethical problem relating to the emergence of open access publication. Some unethical journals might have a nonacademic policy to make money, and this can destroy the merit of open access publishing. In fact, the cost of publication in open access journals is usually a topic that is widely discussed. Some journals might ask for a very high charge from the authors. The nature of unethical predator open access publishers usually includes: 1) a very high charge, 2) no option for the author
