EDITORIAL

Dear Reader, Access (OA) is the practice of providing unrestricted O pen access via the Internet to peer-reviewed scholarly research.

It is most commonly applied to scholarly journal articles, but it is also increasingly being provided to theses, scholarly monographs, book chapters, and entire books. A study published in 2010 showed that roughly 20% of the total output of peer-reviewed articles published in 2008 could be found openly accessible. This low-cost distribution technology has fueled the OA movement and is making it continually grow. As a registered user of Editorial Manager for the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, I want to inform you of the OA hybrid option now available to authors. Open Access gives any user the free, immediate, full-text use of digital scientific and scholarly material. Articles opting for OA will be freely available to read, download, and share from the time of publication.

International Journal of Gynecological Cancer

The hybrid OA option of Lippincott Williams & Wilkins is offered to authors whose articles have been accepted for publication. With this choice, authors of accepted peer-reviewed articles have the choice to pay a fee to allow perpetual unrestricted online access to their published article to readers globally, immediately upon publication. These articles are subject to the journal’s standard peer-review process and will be accepted or rejected on the basis of their own merit. If you recognize the need for free distribution of scientific knowledge, we invite you to avail yourself of this publishing option and encourage you to consult the journal’s OA Page for complete details and instructions. In closing, once again, please accept my thanks for submitting your work to the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer. Sincerely,
