Notice of Redundant Publication Originally published in: RadioGraphics 2014;34(5):1163–1177 • DOI:10.1148/rg.345140190 Diffusion-weighted MR Imaging for Characterizing Musculoskeletal Lesions Ty K. Jacobs, Laura M. Fayad Notice of redundant publication in: RadioGraphics 2015;35(2):652 • DOI:10.1148/rg.352144016 The articles listed above were evaluated by the editors of both RadioGraphics and AJR American Journal of Roentgenology. Agreement was unanimous that there is substantial overlap between these two publications. Dr Fayad, on behalf of the authors, wrote the following: “My co-authors and I take the responsibility of authorship seriously and always endeavor to ensure that each article constitutes a unique expression even where the subject matter may be similar. At no time have we ever intended to present duplicate articles. While we were in the process of writing an invited manuscript for RadioGraphics, we received an invitation from AJR to write a second review addressing the same subject matter. We advised AJR of the RadioGraphics article, but we regret that we did not disclose or share the AJR manuscript with RadioGraphics in this instance. As authors, we feel that the two final publications are indeed different expressions of the same material. However, it is ultimately the author’s responsibility to ensure that each new expression of a subject constitutes an original work, and there is a valuable lesson to be learned from our experience. When faced with two invitations for review articles on the same or similar topics, authors should communicate with both journals directly, and ensure that both journals review each manuscript prior to publication.”
