Next steps for the Practice Standards Scheme THE RCVS is to hold a free webinar on June 9 to explain the upcoming changes to the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) that are due to come into effect later this year. The webinar, ‘The new PSS – the next steps’, will be presented by Jacqui Molyneux, chair of the Practice Standards Group that coordinates the scheme, and Pam Mosedale, veterinary adviser to the PSS. It will begin at 20.00 and will last for about 45 minutes, after which participants will have the chance to ask questions. The webinar will explain how the new scheme, which is due to launch in November, will focus more on outcomes and behaviours. It will also explain how the new ‘awards’ structure will give practices greater scope to demonstrate where they excel and allow for more differentiation between accredited practices. The RCVS is also seeking new PSS
assessors ahead of the scheme’s relaunch. It wishes to recruit 18 experienced veterinary surgeons from across the UK with experience in small animal, equine and/or farm animal practice. The assessors will work directly with RCVS-accredited practices to help them comply with the scheme and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care. The College will be holding an open day at its headquarters in London on June 12 to give prospective candidates more information about the roles. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
