and stress. However, the management and care of women with puerperal psychosis and pre-existing mental health problems are also discussed. Despite the emphasis on a medical model of care, the authors devote chapters to the impact on infant attachment and development, the provision of primary and secondary care services for women who experience difficulties, and the sociocultural dimension of perinatal mental health. This is a well-written and well-researched book that will be of interest to practitioners and clinicians, and is essential reading for anyone involved in the care of women during the perinatal period. My only criticisms would be the repetition of information between chapters and occasional reference to evidence that is out of date. For example, the research it cites on women’s attitudes to perinatal mental health screening is not current. One of a series of five books on interagency partnership in public health and social care, this book focuses on evaluation. It guides the reader through the outcomes evaluation process beginning with an explanation of what evaluation and outcomes are and why they matter. It goes on to cover research approaches for collaborative studies, evaluation research, and useful frameworks and concepts to guide decisions on how to evaluate components of service delivery.

Fast Facts: Parkinson’s Disease (Fourth edition)  Although small, this book is easy to read, well-structured and contains a vast amount of information on Parkinson’s disease and its associated syndromes. Key points, diagrams and pictures bring the subject to life and the straightforward text makes it an accessible read. However, as with any medical textbook, much of the information will date quickly. The book provides a comprehensive exploration of the disease and its treatments and complications. The emphasis on quality of life and holistic care and the inclusion of patients’ perspectives make it an essential text for Parkinson’s specialist nurses or any nurse working with patients with the disease. The chapters on the patient journey, diagnosis and other therapies and support will be useful for different nursing groups, including students. Health service managers will find the resource sections at the end of each chapter useful. Policymakers should also find the book helpful when commissioning research on service delivery evaluation in situations where two or more organisations are involved.
