typical Lebanese Dinner was served at the famous Mounir Restaurant, situated on the mountain overlooking Beirut. The Opening Ceremony took place at Sursok Museum, the Museum of Modern Fine Arts of the City of Beirut. The Museum is a splendid example of 19th century Levantine architecture. It was officially out of action for eight years. After years of delays, setbacks and unforeseeable circumstances, and an extensive US$12 million renovation, the Sleeping Beauty of Lebanon’s art scene was revived when it reopened on October 9th, 2015. The Ceremony was followed by a Reception and Lebanese Dinner at Villa Linda Sursok, next to the Museum. The splendid Villa is one of Beirut’s historic landmarks and hosts only the most prestigious of events. Catering at the Villa was by Le Bristol Hotel, the official traîteur for the Lebanese President and a timeless reference in matters of hospitality. The climax of the meeting was a lavish Gala Dinner at Casino du Liban, with special entertainment by a band of nine musicians and three singers, and an authentic dabke (Lebanese dance) performance by a troupe from the historic city of Baalbeck. The entire event was extremely well organized. Smooth registration of participants and progress of the scientific sessions was assured by a team of hostesses and technicians with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and a customized projection and recording system. In short, the whole event was a vivid testimony to Lebanese entrepreneurship, ingenuity, hospitality and “joie de vivre,” with a substantial scientific content and a memorable social program.
