Foreword regnancy is the single most important existential event for humans. Cardiovascular diseases accounts for up to 4% of all pregnancyrelated complications, and therefore, care of these events in womensʼ lives is an important part of medicine and of society. Most women complete a pregnancy without any medical problems, and indeed, even many with heart disease go through uneventful pregnancies. However, cardiovascular-related problems do occur and have to be fully diagnosed and appropriately managed. This issue of the journal has a comprehensive and thorough review of these problems. It was important to have these medical problems in a large, single issue of the journal (AprilMay 2014). The single issue of Current Problems in Cardiology is a selective one, which is adapted from the European guidelines. The editors are most grateful to the authors for this excellent and superior contribution. The comments are provided by one of the most talented, unique physician who is also a superior clinician. Dr Afshan Hameed* is board certified in 4 specialties (internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and maternal fetal medicine). Dr Hameed is also on the Pregnancy Associated Maternity Review Committee of the California Department of Public Health and Public Health Institute. The editors are also very grateful to Dr Hameed.
