Dear Jenner I thank you for all the trouble you have taken. I have interspersed your expt among my works, and I wish I had more, but I do not know well what to set you about. If you could make the same expt on the increased heat of inflammation I should be obliged to you. I have made some but I am so much hurried that they are but imperfect. To give you an idea of such expt I first introduced the Therm: into the anus of an ass then I injected a solution of corosiv sublimat: above a pint which it throw out very soon; some hours after I throw in another and about I2 hours after I again introduced the therm: The same expt. might be made upon a Dog. I open'd the thorax of a Dog between two ribs and introduced the therm: Then I put some lint into the wound to keep it from healing by the first intention that the Thorax might inflame but before I had time to try it again (from hurry of business) my dog died, which was on the 4th day a deep wound might be made into the thick of a dogs thigh then introduce the Therm and some extranious matter put in the whole depth, Large enough to alow the Thermom: to enter when the plug was taken out, which should be taken out in the time of inflam: and see the difference if these expts will amuse you I should be glad they were made but take care you do not brake your Therm in the Dogs chist xc I am Dear Jenner your much obliged and most obt servant JOHN HUNTER
