Letters from the past From John Hunter to Edward Jenner
Dear Jenner I rec'd yours by Dr Hicks with the Hedge Hog alive, I put it in my garden but I want more. I will send you the picture but by what carriage or by what place. I have a picture of Barret & Stubbs. The Landscape by Barret, and a Horse frightened at the first seeing of a lion by Stubbs. I got it for five guineas. will you have it? I have a dearer one, and no use for two of the same master's. but do not have it excepting you would like it for I can get my money for it. I am glad you have got Black birds nests. Let me know the expense you are at for I do not mean that the picture is to go for any of it only for your trouble Ever yours JOHN HUNTER N.B. I should suppose that Hedge Hogs would come in a Box full of holes all round fill'd with Haye, and some fresh meat put into it.
