EDITORIAL

Dear Reader, our intentional policy for the past 8 years, to I topthasoutbeenof writing the ‘‘old-fashioned’’ editorial in which manuscripts are discussed by the editor or senior editor at the time of their publication. The reason we forgo this practice is the result of 2 independent issues. The first is a logistic one, which would normally involve the addition of another editorial step that can cause a significant delay in publication, a problem we make all efforts to avoid. The second takes into account the autonomy of many readers who want to be totally independent in selecting an important topic of interest, evaluating the materials and methods, and analyzing the results and comments by himself or herself. We respect our readers’ autonomy. However, we could not help noting that in this issue of the journal, there are 4 articles discussing in some way or another minimal invasive surgery for cervical cancer.

International Journal of Gynecological Cancer

To our understanding, this topic is of great interest and controversy. Our young surgical readers are attracted by minimal invasive surgery, but the issue of applicability has not yet reached a position of solid evidence-based data and conclusions. We encourage you to read those publications as well as previous ones and create your own opinions. We also challenge you to write a letter to the editor in which more ideas and thoughts can be brought up, aired, and discussed openly. Enjoy reading.

Sincerely, Uziel Beller, MD Editor-in-Chief PS: our front cover displays once again artwork conveying the message of compassion. Please take a look.
