Editorial Introducing a New Senior Editor It is a great pleasure to be able to welcome Dr. Akhilesh Pandey as a new member of the Senior Editorial Board of PROTEOMICS. Dr. Pandey is currently a Professor at the Institute of Genetic Medicine and the Departments of Biological Chemistry, Oncology and Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore (MD, USA). He obtained his M.D. from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and completed his residency in Pathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and carried out his Postdoctoral work at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a Visiting Scientist with Matthias Mann at the University of Southern Denmark before joining Johns Hopkins in 2002. Dr. Pandey developed the SILAC method in Matthias Mann’s laboratory and continues to apply this technique in many areas including signaling and biomarker discovery. His laboratory is known for taking a Systems Biology approach to study cancer biology by combining many ‘Omics technologies. He is also the Founder and Director of the Institute of Bioinformatics, a non-profit research institute in Bangalore, India. Dr. Pandey has already been active as a member of the Editorial Board of PROTEOMICS and has recently organized two excellent and comprehensive Special Issues of the journal on the topics of Proteogenomics (Volume 14, Issue 23–24, 2014, Editors A Pandey and PA Pevzner) and Signal Transduction (Volume 15, Issue 2–3, Editors A Pandey and MF Moran). We very much look forward to working together with Akhilesh as a Senior Editor on future projects designed to further enhance PROTEOMICS and to maintain it as a leading journal in the field.
