Frontline of dermatomycology research is just in front of us!

Dermatomycoses are known to be among the most prevalent skin diseases in this humid subtropical latitude. Recently, the number of dermatologists and researchers engaged in studying dermatomycoses has declined but good studies are still performed in Japan. Good research is also conducted in other Asian countries. The Journal of Dermatology, the top dermatology journal in Asia, plays an important role in conveying information of these good studies to readers both within and beyond Asia. pared by young dermatologists who will be the pivot of dermatomycology in the next generation. In addition, readers are able to access many good quality case reports in this issue. The unique ability of dermatologists is that we observe the fungi directly in our office, and the distance between “bed” and “bench” is very short; in other words, we clinicians are very close to the frontline of dermatomycology. I would appreciate it if this issue is found useful to aid readers’ understanding of current topics and helpful in bringing familiarity to this field.
