Cardiac regeneration continues to make steady progress with a large number of exciting new discoveries being reported. This is coupled with great expectations, which is sometimes associated with impatience and rushing publications. This has raised grave concerns. In this issue of the journal, several articles are presented to reflect both the progress and concerns regarding some of the early publications. The issue also deals with other topical issues deemed to be of interest to our readers. The journal welcomes views, original submissions and reviews addressing all aspects of the science and practice of cardiology, and importantly, inequalities in healthcare delivery.
