Editorial

Editorial from the outgoing Editor After over 17 years as the Editor-in-Chief of EJPB, I would like to inform readers, authors, colleagues and friends that I have decided to step down from my position and will hand over the management of the journal to my friend and colleague Prof. Achim Goepferich from the University of Regensburg in Germany. When I took over the journal 17 years ago, it was published by the Wissenschftliche Verlagsgesellschaft in Stuttgart, Germany. The journal had no impact factor and was not listed in databases. It is hard to imagine that it used to be trilingual and had a very limited audience, mainly in a few European countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria. In the mid-nineties, the name was changed from Acta Technologica to European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, in an effort to make it accessible to a larger audience. Over 13 years ago, with an increasing success, the publishing was taken over by Elsevier, in Amsterdam. Prof. Goepferich as the new incoming Editor in Chief has been with the journal as an Editor for many years and will certainly continue the phenomenal success story of EJPB. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you (authors, editors, reviewers, and readers) for the input, energy and dedication you have committed to the journal over the years. Without your passion, it would not have been possible to bring the journal to its current level of worldwide recognition. I also would like to thank the scientific advisory board for their input and positive critique that greatly helped me move the journal forward. Thanks to the input from scientist around the world, it has been possible to achieve an excellent ranking, making EJPB a leading publication in its field.

I would also like to recognize the long-lasting support and encouragements from the International Association of Pharmaceutical Technology (APV). APV heavily supports the journal and distributes it to all its members. As the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, I would like to acknowledge the input and support from my colleagues in Geneva, Dr. Michael Moeller, Dr. Sarra de Valence and Dr. Florence Delie who worked daily with me for the success of EJPB. I would also not forget the administrative assistants who, behind the scenes, spent many hours resolving problems. And finally, I would like to address a special thanks to all who contributed to special issues as authors or editors, helping to significantly increase the interest for EJPB. I wish my colleague Prof. Achim Goepferich all the best for the future and hope that researchers from around the world will continue to publish their excellent work in our journal.
