ERTAINintracranial surgical procedures are facilitated technically by drainage of cerebrospinal fluid. For intraoperative cerebrospinal fluid drainage, one can employ a system of closed drainage via lumbar puncture. For these procedures we use the Cuatico myelography needle,* because of its relatively safe inner cannula with multiple small openings. When secured in place, the cannula is connected by sterile intravenous tubing to an empty bottle. This system provides a simple, reliable method of intraoperative cerebrospinal fluid drainage.
