Objective: Salmonella endocarditis is so rarely reported that its clinical features,
3
prognosis, and optimal treatment remain unclear. Here, we report a female with
4
nontyphoid Salmonella endocarditis complicated with perivalvular abscess. Other
5
cases reported in the English literature were reviewed and summarized.
6
Methods: Using the key words Salmonella, infective endocarditis and mural
7
endocarditis, to search the PubMed database, the case reports on Salmonella

endocarditis published between 1976 and 2014 and the case series of infective
9
endocarditis including at least 500 cases were reviewed.
