Noticeboard Sexual exploitation of children Do you have information or views about child sexual exploitation in Northern Ireland and how it is addressed? In November 2013, the Northern Ireland Executive established an independent inquiry to look at the issue and make recommendations. It will conclude with a report to ministers by November 4. The inquiry is inviting views and opinions and is particularly interested in hearing from nurses and other frontline health and social care staff, past and present. Details on the inquiry and how information can be shared are available at www.rqia.org.uk/cseinquiry The RCN is encouraging members who have information they would like to share with the inquiry to come forward, and advises those who wish to do so to email RCN officer Marie McAteer, at [email protected], for guidance and support.

Registration fee instalments Emergency nurses have until next month to respond to a consultation on rule changes that would enable them to pay their registration fees in instalments. Nursing and Midwifery Council chief executive Jackie Smith said: ‘We are determined to introduce the ability to pay the registration fee in instalments as soon as we can, making it easier and less burdensome

for nurses and midwives. A fully functioning system of paying registration fees in instalments will be in place from 2016.’ The consultation runs from August 11 to October 3. For more information, go to tinyurl.com/pxa3kvh

Missed targets Patients may have to wait longer before receiving emergency care, according to the Health and Foundation Nuffield Trust. The two organisations have published their analysis of why patients are waiting too long in emergency departments after data revealed that major emergency units in England had missed their target to treat, admit or discharge patients within four hours for 52 weeks in a row. Details are available at tinyurl.com/mavur7b

Urgent care review NHS England has published an update on its urgent and emergency care review. The update reports on work with local commissioners in developing a five-year strategic and a two-year operational plan. To underpin these changes, NHS England and Monitor have published proposals for how urgent and emergency care costs should be reimbursed. The review update can be accessed at tinyurl.com/mqt4lpb and details about the consultation, which runs until September 19, are available at tinyurl.com/k9f7dqg
