Foreword ystemic hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disorder. It secondarily affects other organs or organ systems including the heart, kidney, and cerebrovascular disorders. It is also very commonly associated with other disorders. Hypertension is usually not ideally controlled for a variety of reasons, including noncompliance because of (1) treatment of asymptomatic patients, (2) need for multiple medications, and (3) cost. Resistant hypertension is a difficult problem to treat and manage. In this issue of the Journal, Dr Gulati and his colleagues have described a new model of treatment, that is, renal denervation. It is in the early stages of development and clinical use. Nevertheless, it is a scholarly and an important and valuable contribution. The Editors and I are grateful to Dr Gulati and his colleagues for their excellent contribution.
