Abstract:

19

Objective: It remains controversial as to which conservative surgery for

20

endometriotic cysts is more beneficial for preserving ovarian reserve. We

21

have initiated a study with the objective of evaluating how endometriotic

22

cystectomy and vaporization affect ovarian reserve following conservative

23

surgery.

24

Design: Prospective study.

25

Design classification: II-1

26

Setting: Hokusetsu General Hospital

27

Patients: Ninety-nine women who underwent conservative surgery for

28

endometriotic cysts from June 2011 to July 2013 in Hokusetsu General

29

Hospital.

30

Interventions: Vaporization with bipolar current was adopted for the

31

nulligravid women and a cystectomy was carried out on those who already had

32

a child. In endometriotic cyst, 28 women undertook a bilateral cystectomy

33

(BC), 15 undertook bilateral vaporization (BV), 40 undertook a unilateral

34

cystectomy (UC), and 16 undertook unilateral vaporization (UV). In all cases,

35

preoperatively and postoperatively, serum AMH and FSH levels at the early

36

proliferative phase were assayed and the change in their levels was evaluated

Results: In the BC group, the postoperative FSH level (19.3±21.8 IU/ml) was
