Jim Fairles

Letter to the Editor  Courrier des lecteurs Comment re: Accepting that veterinary medicine is a profession and business, how does one balance the business with professional and medically appropriate veterinary care? (Can Vet J 2013;54:213) Dear Editor, This is a timely question, given the proliferation of corporate hospitals in Ontario. From multi-practice owner to corporate employee I am seeing a troubling side to the business versus medicine relationship. Numbers seem to take on new significance for corporations pressuring all aspects of medical care. One balances this dilemma by remembering why we are here. Do what is best for the animal.
