A COCK'S FROM FEATHERS FEAR. An inhabitant of Plautieres, in the neighbourhood of Met.z, sent the following communication to the Metz News: "I have a Spauisli cock, possessed of a beautiful black co.it of feathers, without a trace of any other color. This proud Spanish Don while out one evening, in all probability on a voyage ot discovery, happened to get into a pigpen. These plebeians, not being at all hospitably inclined, treated him shamefully, and would assuredly have killed him, if his woful cries^ had not attracted help. He was freed from his anxious position and carried safely back to his harem. A. sufficient punishment for undue curiosity in prying into his neighbour's affairs would have been the loss of a few tail feathers, but the gods did not so will it, and the next morning the cock, that the day before had wandered through the garden clad in youthful beauty, now appeared in the hen yard hoary with age. The head had become completely feathers of the white, and on the back and neck about half of the feathers had changed color, so as to give him a speckled appearance."? Monatshefte f Prakt.
