the 11th instant at 5-30 P.M. for post-mortem examination and report, with the following history of the case. It is said that Buta with five other men was sent to cart down materials for building at a At noon distance of six miles from the Tehsil. all the drivers took their dose of bhang, that they were in the habit of taking daily. It was about 1 p. m. Buta returned back to the Tehsil with his cart, but on the way it stopped, and remained so until past 2 p.m. This being noticed by the police constable who was supervising the work, a man was sent after Buta to tell him to drive the cart. But the man and the constable soon following found that Buta was not on the cart, and making search around the spot they found the body of Buta lying near a busii of reeds (Patwar H), stiffened, blistered and foaming at the mouth, when they hurried the body to the Tehsil and brought it iu for inspection. oil

Post-mortem inspection. External appearance.?The body was muscular, and well nourished. Rigor mortis present, hands clenched, eyes red and protruded, foamincr at the mouth, blood trickled down the face from the minor canthus ot both eyes, tongue drawn backwards into the palate. There were several large blisters on the chest, shoulders, behind the legs, and ankle joints, left groin, one near the angle of one on the mouth, but a very small one, back and flanks, and the flexor side of the arms, presenting bruises as if the man had fallen against reeds in struggling fits. About two inches above the flexor side of the left wrist joint there were three small punctures as if made with a fine needle, two of them ? inch apart, the third very near the second, and outside of it, all situated on the site of flexor sublimis digitorum muscle, and near a vein and surrounded by a dark area of ecehymosis. The dhotee which was on the body was untied and loose, and the body not washed, as if he was bitten while sitting at stool among reeds, and after the bite he could not inform other men, or restore the clothing himself, and in the tossing about of the body, received cuts and bruises from the reeds. fall of frothy fluid blood, left empty, autimortem clot about two inches long in the mitral orifice. Substance of the heart much congested and friable, vense cava? distended. Stomach contracted, no food or fluid in it. Liver hard, enlarged and whitish. Spleen congested and very soft. Kidneys injected; bladder full of urine; 110 special discoloration of stomach or bowels was observed. About 20 ounces of fluid was contained in the peritoneal cavity. There was extravasation of blood and congestion about the right side of the cceliac axis. The blister on the surface of the body found to be surrounded by ecohymosed edges, and blood seemed to infiltrate the tissues to a greater distance; some burst, others were full of grumous fluid. General Remarks.? Since my residence at this station, I have met with 8 cases of snake bites which are fortunately very rare. Almost all the cases were slight ones and they recovered soon after ordinary treatment with ligatures, caustics, cautery, &?. ; but in this striking case, the presence of blisters on the surface of the body was unusual; unfortunately the snake was not found, but the people say that a snake (probably echis carinata, the snake that is most venomous up here), of brown colour, with wavy lines on its sides, with eyes in both sides of the line, running from head to the tip of the tail, is most poisonous, and if it bites the man gets a fit like epilepsy (murgai?Pushtu) and blisters form on the body.
