of Boddur, aged about 1G years, was admitted here on the 30th ot January 1890, complaining of severe pain in his abdomen, which lie attributed to his having accidentally swallowed a twig, with which he was cleaning his teeth, lie arrived in a bent posture and stated as follows :?That on the 12th and 13th January being feast days, (Pongul), he ate more than usual, and feeling uncomfortable tried to induce vomiting the morning of the 14th by tickling his on fauces with the twig he was using as a toothbrush. In doing so, it slipped out ot his grasp and easily glided down his throat. He felt no discomfort till about a week or ten days after, when he observed a protuberance in the right hvpoohondriac region with pain at the spot. When he wanted rest, a sitting posture was more comfortable than lying down. Pain increased after meals. lie never vomited ; bowels regular. J. Appig ad a,

There was slight fluctuation at the spot. Bowels moved once after admission. No blood or slime in the motion. Treatment.? Poultice every third hour and a grain of opium at bed-time. on removing poultice pus was On examination, there was a small sinus, in which a probe could enter. I enlarged the opening to about a third of an inch, through which a twig 6^ inches long and inch in circumference (margosa) gradually 2 came out, blunt end foremost to a distance of about an inch, and was easily extracted. There was no bleeding. The wound was washed with carbolic lotion, dressed with carbolic oil and bandaged. On l'einoval of the twig, patient felt immediate relief. Though ordered to keep The wound graquiet he would walk about. dually closed and healed in about 12 days.
