Cttddapah, nth January, 1883. Surgeon, Cuddapah, to the Secretary to Surgeon-General, wiih ihc Government of Aladras. Sir,?I have the honor to inform you, that I have, by this day's banghy post, forwarded to your address a small parcel containing a large calculus (in pieces) removed by the process of dilatation from the bladder of a girl aged about 16 years, on the From The Zillah

December last, under choloform. The girl is said to have been suffering from symptoms of stone ever since she was three years old. On admission she appeared to be pale and emaciated, with constant dribbling of urine; her sufferings were, during micturition, very great and most pitiable, often rolling on the ground and putting herself in all kinds of positions, apparently to dislodge and place the stone in a 21st

favorable position to enable her to pass her urine. After ascertaining accurately the measurements of the stone, per vaginam, by a digital examination, the urethra was carefully dilated to the requisite extent and the stone was crushed and removed piecemeal. The pieces of the stone collected weighed one; ounce and 6 drams, but a great deal of its debris was washed away by the urine and the injection used. The patient, I am happy to say, recovered rapidly, and was discharged cured six days after the operation, being quite capable of voiding her urine naturally. As I thought that the case was of an important and interesting nature, and one that the Surgeon-General might be glad to hear of, I deemed it proper to forward the stone for his inspection and transmission to the Museum attached to the Medical College, if he considers it necessary. I have, &c., M. Iyasawmy, (Sd) Zillah Surgeon. more

True copy forwarded to the Editor, Indian Medical Gazette, with the Surgeon-General's compliments. The stone was composed of phosphates.

By order, J. STURMER, Surgeon, Secretary, Surgeon-General, with the Government of Madras.
