The antfbacterial activity of aminoglycoside antibiotics is signiftcantly reduced by lowering the pH of the incubation medium. Since gram-negative septic arthritis responds poorly to aminoglycbside antibiotic therapy, we sought to determine whether synovfal fluid acidosis contributes to this poor outcome.
